Disconnect from the phone jack all of your telephones and any other equipment using the telephone line, such as satellite receivers, computers, answering machines, etc. Then take one corded telephone and try it in each phone jack. If you receive dial tone in every jack, then one of your pieces of equipment is at fault. Try one piece of equipment at a time until you have isolated the defective equipment. If you receive dial tone in some jacks but not others, your house wiring is at fault. If you do not receive dial tone in any jacks, contact your local telephone company for assistance, as a technician may need to be dispatched.
